Sales Manager

Department: Business Development
Location: St. Louis, MO

Job Summary

Responsible for overall sales and profit growth of locomotive product line accounts, through management of the product line development process and strategic support of the sales and service team.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Create and maintain a product strategy map to help identify growth opportunities, the competitive landscape, supply chain strengths/weaknesses, etc.
  • Lead the execution of Product Line Development plans
  • Lead product line marketing plans
  • Support the sales team by providing technical support on customer visits and webinars.
  • Develop promotional materials for the product line (newsletters, technical bulletins, and handbooks) to communicate product advantages to the customer.
  • Perform product line financial review (gross profit, sales trend, quote follow up (win/loss) analysis, etc.) in order to direct the sales team into action leading to product line sales and profit growth
  • Create / maintain product line forecast and monitor sales against the forecast
  • Develop and manage key supply chain relationships and create source vs make strategy for key materials.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for product line applications.
  • Develop related internal training documents for the sales and service team.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Ability to be outwardly focused on understanding our customer’s application requirements and translating that understanding into internal capability development
  • Experience with CRM software
  • Ability to analyze financial records or reports to determine state of operations.

Education and Experience

  • Five to ten years’ experience in technical sales with direct account management or product line management responsibility.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering or other technical degree and/or equivalent experience is required.

Work Environment

The work environment is typical of most office environments; occasionally, the position will be required to be on the manufacturing floor. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
