Sales Account Manager

The Gund Company is looking for a Sales Account Manager to cover the Midwest Region. This position will be based at our corporate headquarters in St. Louis with travel up to 33% of the time. Local St. Louis candidates are preferred.

Job Summary

The Account Manager is responsible for the development of customer relationships and sales generation by understanding and maximizing customer and prospect product and service requirements.  The Account Manager proactively manages the order fulfillment process for assigned customers while pursuing opportunities for expanded sales volume with eventual transition from an inside sales focus to external revenue generation as business and industry knowledge expands.

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

  • Build relationships with TGC’s customer base to fully understand the customer’s requirements, communicate them to our production team, and determine our opportunities to earn additional business.
  • Assume ownership for customer relationship and sales development at specific accounts including conducting customer sales visits in partnership with established Account Managers and other key internal partners to identify and obtain additional business opportunities resulting in profitable sales.
  • Assist with management of external Manufacturer’s Rep Firm, to compliment selling efforts in assigned territory.
  • Function as technical subject matter expert regarding customer applications by effectively communicating how our products and services can best satisfy their requirements.
  • Utilize knowledge of past sales success of customer applications of our product(s) to maximize future sales opportunities.
  •  Identify new prospective applications for our products by understanding customer requirements and our product capabilities.
  • Utilizing a variety of communication methods such as telephone, email, and personal visits, deepen customer relationships with a disciplined consistency to communicate our ability to satisfy their requirements.
  • Utilize the Customer Relationship Management software tool to document and follow up on customer opportunities in a consistent and disciplined manner.
  • Accurately respond to customer inquiries and quote requests in an expeditious and complete manner.
  • Assist in the implementation and management the Order Fulfillment Process in order to satisfy customer requirements in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the development of marketing materials for the market (newsletters, technical bulletins, and handbooks) to communicate our capabilities to prospective customers.
  • Follow up on job cost performance using gross margin reports and make necessary quotation adjustments for repeat business.
  • Track and maintain the dedicated inventory used to service the customer base.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Strong and extroverted interpersonal communication skills to maximize customer interactions.
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking to identify and implement strategies that create competitive advantage in the market.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, including internationally.

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 5 years of technical sales experience or an equivalent amount of education and experience is required.
  • At least 5 years of customer account management in a technical industry is required.
  • Experience with customer order fulfillment is required.
